By the way, I think it's illogical that the rating doesn't reset after a certain period of time.
On this resource, most people expressed their support for a retrospective rating system, and I agree with that.
In any case, inactive players will gradually fall down the ranking, regardless of the scoring system.
As an example, here's a scenario that is quite possible:
Player A won a tournament, and then missed 4 tournaments, for whatever reason, but the player is clearly skilled.
In the 5th tournament, he will have a zero rating.
Player B, who played in the last tournament and finished last, will be higher in the ranking, even though he is clearly a newbie.
