How to kill Black Dragons?

I just bash... everyone I can.
But here's a question... How do you behave in the arena? When a hero is left one-on-one with a Champion? That's where the Barbarian shines...

The Barbarian can simply enter the arena earlier, which doesn't really make much sense, it's better to wait until level 13-15, otherwise it's a waste of precious skill points.
