David Beckham once made a bet with English fans that he was the greatest football player in the world and could easily defeat the entire Russian national team on his own. They shook hands, Beckham boarded a plane, and headed to the match in Russia. A week later, he returned, clearly upset, much to the delight of the English fans:
-So, David? Did you manage to outplay the entire team on your own?
-No, it didn't work out. It was a 1:1 draw.
-Oh, you call yourself the greatest football player!
-I would have won if the referee hadn't sent me off the field at the beginning of the first half...
