Not seeing any immediate opportunity to leave his cell, Mark continued to observe what was happening.

Through the bars to his left, Mark sees Sotria and the sergeant (whose keys he had previously noticed on his belt), lying near her cell. He also sees two soldiers, one of whom is sitting with his back against the wall, holding his wounded abdomen. The other soldier is providing him with first aid.
