I meant that the word "LISTENED" doesn't quite fit what I sometimes heard on TV or at various events when adults played music.
I agree, especially since when I was 10, I didn't have a choice of what to listen to - no player, no computer, the TV was controlled by my parents, no radio, and I wasn't interested in music at that age. I could, of course, send in Pugacheva, whom my mother listened to (and, by force, I did too), but what's the point? I don't have any nostalgia for her, or anything. The song I submitted fits the criteria of the contest and at the same time evokes so many memories that I can hardly imagine a more suitable candidate for the contest.
