Where do these ideas come from to perform such maneuvers? You suddenly appear in a weakly defended enemy castle in an open space, and the reaction to this is obvious. But you are performing some kind of maneuvers.

If you wait, Gilroen will arrive with a large army, and you will either have to waste time or pretend to be Scottish. 😉
If you go immediately, you have too few troops and won't make it (there are either phoenixes or earth elementals).
Running away from the elf is tedious.
By maneuver, I meant capturing the upper city and then the unoccupied capital ("While the owner was away" J.R.R. Tolkien).
