The “Island for One” scenario.

Okay, thanks for the tip about locking up the yellow creatures in the Castle. I had around 600 archers and 18 dragons when the orange creatures appeared, and the rest were only 100-200 each. That's clearly not enough. I'll start over, and maybe try the Warrior difficulty. Veteran seems a bit too challenging for me right now.
