Thrash Metal – what’s your opinion on it?

HoM[M]ie, I didn't listen and I'm not going to. And did you listen to Overkill? That's real thrash metal (starting with the album “Taking Over”, 1987).

Well, at least one song, please. I really like Trivium's 2008 album Shogun, could you at least rate the title track from it? I just want to finally understand if it's possible to say that there are elements of thrash in their music.
I haven't listened to Overkill, but our discussion inspires me to get to know this genre better. I would just like to start with a more thorough listening of Sodom.
