If it's possible to achieve something with the available tools, then why bother asking the author for something that's not so easily implemented? IMHO.

1. Is outputting text to a file a "not so easily implemented request"?
It's definitely a low priority, but there's nothing particularly difficult about it.
It's more a question of motivation.

2. That's what IMHO is for – to keep it to yourself, not to convince others.
