The relevant law was adopted by the Swiss Parliament and came into force on January 1, 2015. It stipulates that if a client does not contact the bank for 10 years, and after another 50 years, their deposit remains inactive, information about the abandoned account is published to search for heirs. To this end, the Swiss government created a special website, dormantaccounts.ch, where anyone can check whether any of their ancestors had an account in one of the country's banks 60 or more years ago. To date, the list of unclaimed deposits already consists of 197 pages!
