I just bought 3 stacks, and spent the rest of the money on Shadow magic. I lost my army, but my opponent wasn't in a hurry. I cleared 2 treasures calmly, then went through the Gate (it wasn't even defended), looked in the tavern, saw that the main hero was somewhere without an army, and calmly ran to the castle and killed the entire army.
