I'd like to add my two cents. There's still a type of player (I don't know how many there are, whether it's a lot or not), let's call them "home players." I'm one of them. I don't play in tournaments, I don't play online (although, I won't argue, it's all very interesting). I don't have much free time, so I only get to play for a little while. So, here's what I'm getting at: some of the changes made by HotA (as I think) are specifically for playing against real opponents or for tournament games.
In fact, the developers don't hide that they are primarily working on the online community, however, the vast majority of the innovations - including all the artifacts and potions, which comrade Iamsamstan has inexplicably latched onto - significantly diversify both online and offline gameplay. Balance changes, of course, are not to everyone's taste, but here, everyone is free to choose; no one is taking away the classic third installment, or games like Warlords and others.
