Necromancers – “The Bait” [Campaign 3, Mission 1]

Basically, I tried to rush to the transition point right at the start of the game. I reached it on the second turn, but the elephant was already there. I explored the entire map, stood next to them – they don't react. Here's a screenshot. What do you suggest I do?
