Darkness is merely the absence of Light. Light is merely the absence of Darkness. "I am part of that power which eternally wills evil and eternally works good" (Goethe, Faust). We live in a colorful world, and the author tries to judge it in black and white categories (although even in this scale, there is gray). In life, everything is much more complex, because the concepts of Good and Evil are not absolute; each person has their own understanding of good and evil (what a Russian likes, a Chinese person doesn't, roughly, but fair). In some African tribes, things are practiced that are considered absolutely unacceptable in the "civilized" world (obligatory incest or homosexual intercourse as an element of initiation, cannibalism, ritual killings - yes, yes, gentlemen, all this still exists). Damn, as always, I end up rambling: I want to say too much, so I jump from one thought to another. The point is that it is impossible to define Good and Evil; the concepts are too global, capacious, and ambiguous. And even a seemingly unambiguously good deed can, under certain circumstances, lead to Evil (and vice versa). So let's not try to define the indefinable. An example of a level 2*2 creature is Agrail (Raelegh), a demon of dark elf origin. Can you classify him as good or evil? I can't; he has both. And it's always like that; there are no pure colors in nature, and even sunlight is a mixture of all possible colors and shades.
