In this setting, without progress/regression in technology, magic, and plot, I don't feel motivated to continue playing.

Let's have a vote! I'd like to play in Dark Erathia, for example. The others probably would too... otherwise, the picture selection ended up being somewhat "like we're deciding, but not really." It wasn't much different from random selection.
