I remember accidentally destroying my own world and then arriving on Earth. This happens quite often.

I remember in one game, while defending the capital planet, a race of monkeys (yes, that's what they're called, the creators are quite creative) decided to use a superweapon and wipe out the enemy fleet. They used it right above their own planet and, instead of enemy ships, wiped it out.
