Four of his hiking companions decided not to sacrifice their return plane tickets and hurried home, essentially leaving the injured man to his fate. The unfortunate tourists didn't even inform the rescuers about the incident. Specialists from the South Siberian Search and Rescue Squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia learned that the man needed help only a day later, from the injured man's mother, who told them the story. The on-duty rescuers immediately set out for the injured man, provided him with first aid, and helped him get to the tourist base. It's hard to believe that such "friends" can exist.
