Actually, I like the idea of banning certain heroes. I'm looking forward to the new version of HotA!

Just to manage expectations, let me clarify (if it wasn't clear): there will be an option to specify hero bans in the template file (i.e., to change the template / create a new one). There will be no way to select bans within the game.

It is unlikely that one-sided dwellings, in the form they are generated in SoD, will be possible in the official version: the game engine is designed in such a way that it places one-sided dwellings only if it doesn't have enough two-sided ones. And new two-sided dwellings have already been added; no one will remove them.

You can remove two-sided dwellings by editing the text files, but this is at your own risk (and in general, editing game resources is considered cheating).
