Agar considers himself a scientist, not a magician. One of his hobbies is creating all sorts of hybrid creatures, which, as a rule, get out of control and patiently wait for some brave travelers to deal with them. Agar was incredibly surprised when a furious mob beat his student, the elf Telgoran, to death after he created beautiful monsters. He believes that he could create a much more "enlightened" society if he were to gain the throne of Varna.



The Gate Lord, Ranalu, is a great expert in portals and teleportation; many of the "Spiritual Gates" in Varna were built by his hands. Driven by a sense of justice, Ranalu is deeply disturbed by the attitude of his "fellow inhabitants" of Varna towards the rights of other living beings. After decades of loyal service to his home, he decided to use force to defend his ideals and pave the way for a future in which there is room for cooperation and compassion.
