If you move the regeneration ability to level 4, wisdom won't work, and you'll have to remove something else at level 4 (which means losing two potential upgrades), and regeneration is sometimes used even on level 5 creatures, etc.
Changing regeneration in the current way in the mod is the most "minimal and optimal" approach.
