Well, actually, the Thalmor are like the Third Reich.

So, are they still essentially classic elves?
It's funny, I was once offered to play as them in a tabletop RPG based on The Elder Scrolls. At the time, I didn't know the name of the race; they just described them to me as "elf-Nazis."
