There are many different interpretations of vampires. Some are more common, others less... Lukyanenko, Panov, Warhammer: Fantasy Battle, Heroes, Disciples, etc. In some, the concept is similar, in others, the difference is significant... So, the argument is somewhat pointless... There is no real evidence - "here is a vampire, and this is what it's like" - it's all fiction, so everyone has their own point of view.
