I also watched Zootopia; it's a decent cartoon, "goes well with beer," as they say, but that's not what I'm going to talk about. The other day, Kosha was attacked again by the terrible beast called "the blues," and she started wondering what to do? Correct: watch stupid cartoons for the hundred-and-fiftieth time. Yes, I'm an autist, you're all aware of that.
First, allow me a small lyrical digression.

The plot of a typical modern Hollywood cartoon

Scene 1. Introduction.
The Main Character (ГГ) Dreams.
ГГ (voiceover): Hi, I'm the Main Character. Actually, I'm a loser and a failure, but I have a Dream, and I Dream it. I know that my Dream is unattainable, but if I try hard, maybe everything will work out?..
A familiar skeptic (roughly ripping ГГ from the embrace of the Dream): Stop daydreaming and go do something useful.
ГГ: Life sucks.
Scene 2. Taking Action.
The Main Character does his job, never ceasing to Dream.
ГГ: As I said, I'm a failure and my life sucks. But I still Dream.
Extras: Bwahaha, loser.
ГГ: Oh no! Check out what I'm about to do!
Big Letdown: Hello there.
ГГ: Why you... But next time it'll definitely work!
Extras: Bwahaha, loser.
ГГ: Well, go same... To hell with you! And I'm going to fulfill my Dream!
Extras: Well, beat it, loser.
ГГ walks into the sunset to pompous-optimistic music.
Scene 3. Towards Change.
ГГ: There we go, I'm now one step closer to my Dream!
New acquaintances: Oh, look at this loser fluttering around.
ГГ: You don't understand anything!
Quirky guy: I like you! Let's be friends! Check out how funny I am!
ГГ: Look who thinks he's my buddy... Pfft.
Quirky guy: Ok, pal, if you need anything, I'm here.
A Cutie of the opposite gender to ГГ appears.
ГГ: Wow... Want to be friends?
Cutie: Go away, creep.
ГГ: Life sucks.
Quirky guy: But I'm with you, friend!
ГГ: Life sucks twice as much.
Scene 4. Rapid Plot Development.
Several random scenes to transition from point 3 to point 5. Usually these scenes include:
- ГГ gaining experience (first he fails, then he's mediocre, in the end—the best of all).
- ГГ getting closer to the Quirky guy.
- ГГ getting closer to the extras and earning a certain amount of respect and street cred.
- ГГ getting closer to the Cutie.
- Heart-wrenching revelations delivered by the Quirky guy, the Cutie, both at once, or both in turn.
- Creating the impression that ГГ is close to the Dream.
- Subtle hints that ГГ is doing something wrong.
Scene 5. DRAMA.
ГГ: Finally! The day is near when my Dream will come true! Quirky guy, wish me luck!
Quirky guy: Listen, ГГ, I've been thinking...
ГГ: Better don't think, I'll do the thinking.
Quirky guy: You don't listen to me, you don't appreciate me and you don't love me! I'm leaving you... To eat.
ГГ: Well, go ahead.
The Quirky guy walks into the sunset with an offended face.
ГГ: Whatever! Now I'll fulfill my Dream in front of everyone and everything will be great!
Big Letdown: Hello there. Miss me?
ГГ: Why you...
Terrible Secret That ГГ Didn't Tell In Pt. 4, Although He Could Have: Oh, am I late?
ГГ: Why you guys...
Extras: Bwahaha, loser.
Cutie: No way. What else don't I know about you?
ГГ: I'll explain everything!!!
Cutie: I don't need your explanations. Go away, creep!
ГГ walks into the rain to very sad music.
Scene 6. Rebirth.
ГГ wanders or sits in the rain, the music gets sadder and sadder. ГГ is haunted by flashbacks of how everything was good.
ГГ: I'm a loser and a failure. What was I thinking? I'll never fulfill my Dream. I chased the Dream, and everyone left me. Life sucks.
Sudden Epiphany: Hello there.
ГГ: Of course! How did I not figure this out before!
ГГ rushes at full speed to the door of the Quirky guy's house.
ГГ: Hi, I've been thinking...
Quirky guy: Go to hell, you're not my friend anymore. Take your toys and don't sit on my potty.
ГГ: Well... You were right, and I was wrong. Forgive me, I won't do it again.
Quirky guy: No problem. Now let's go fulfill your Dream and win back the Cutie's heart.
Scene 7. Pompous Finale, Which Took 95% of the Budget.
ГГ: Here I am! I've decided to fulfill my Dream!
Extras: Bwahaha, loser.
ГГ: No, really! For the sake of my friend, the Quirky guy, and for the Cutie, whom I still love!
Cutie: Oh, ГГ, how sweet. Now I wonder, should I play hard to get or not?..
Big Letdown: Hey, did everyone just forget about me?
ГГ: You're lying, you won't trick me!
ГГ activates the Magic of Friendship and pompously knocks Big Letdown off the nearest cliff.
Big Letdown: No-o-o-o-o that's not fair, I didn't say goodbye! And you're still a loser and a failure!
ГГ: Oh no! I achieved my Dream, despite all the obstacles! And it's all thanks to my loyal friends! I love you, friends! To hell with my Dream when I have you! You are better than a Dream!
Cutie (pulling ГГ into an embrace): Oh, ГГ, I love you too.
Quirky guy: Oops, I think I'm in the way...
ГГ and Cutie: You sure are!
Scene 8. Happy Ending.
ГГ (voiceover): That's how I achieved my Dream, and in a week, the Cutie and I are getting married. My friend, the Quirky guy, will be there too!
Quirky guy: I want a wedding too!
ГГ: We'll arrange that in the sequel.
Extras: Woohoo, ГГ is the best! We didn't believe in him, but he turned out to be such a great guy!
If Dreamworks animated it, everyone dances to happy music; otherwise, everyone walks into the sunset to similar music. Happy ending. Buy our toys and wait for the sequel.

And now, what I was drawing a comic to over the weekend:



As far as I know, it's a cartoon based on a comic I haven't read. But I decided to watch it anyway because I can.
+ Interesting, unusual style—I think it carried over from the original comic. A plot that claims originality and almost doesn't fit into the scheme provided above.
- It seemed a bit boring to me; the characters didn't click.
= A sweet, cozy school story that's pleasant to watch with the whole family. The art is an acquired taste. Those familiar with the source material might have a different impression, from "woohoo, they captured the spirit of the comic perfectly" to "it sucks, they ruined everything." It didn't grab me, but I don't regret watching it. 6/10.



A cartoon purely for laughs, not claiming to be anything more. Milking the franchise, but it'll do, and the penguins are the best characters of the original movie. Clowns, of course, but these clowns are to my taste, unlike all those "made by Disney" show-offs.
+ It succeeded in being funny. Lots of mockery and self-mockery; the humor isn't very intellectual, but it's not obnoxious or completely stupid.
- I would have liked a more successful development of some characters.
= A cool comedy for one or two viewings just to clear your head. Don't expect miracles, but you can smile and even laugh. 6/10.



I don't know why, but I like this cartoon. Dynamic, sweet, and funny.
+ There are many characters, but they are written confidently and there is no confusion. A successful move to duplicate ГГ's relationships in the "snail" and "human" worlds. The ending is expected, but it's done great and I like it.
- Characters are well-written, but there are too many of them. The theme of establishing relationships between ГГ and his new company isn't very well developed; one race doesn't really develop this theme, in my opinion.
= A decent cartoon. Strange, but good. The plot above is played out almost by the book, but presented successfully enough, in my view. 7/10.




To give you an idea, I'm talking about all four cartoons: "Cars", "Cars 2", "Planes", and "Planes: Fire & Rescue", since for me they are made at roughly the same level. I'm shocked, but I like this franchise, even though I don't really love machinery and racing.
+ Pleasant characters, a successful and funny "car-ification" of the world. Even second- and third-tier characters are well-written and generally aren't irritating (Mater and own same as Chupacabra honestly tried, but failed). It's funny, though not offensive, how they poke fun at different nationalities. The second Planes touched on the theme of real heroes who save real people, and presented it in a way that I didn't fall asleep. Also, AC/DC's Thunderstruck sounds fully or almost fully in this movie—one of my favorite songs of theirs.
- Buy our toys! Buy our toys! Just buy them already, will you? While watching, of course, it isn't felt, but such a thought arises when you start seriously thinking about the world of sentient machinery.
= A very cool cartoon that, in my eyes, managed to stay at one level throughout four feature films. Pass. 9/10.



A very decent cartoon, one of my favorites among Dreamworks.
+ To my taste, a very successful design for ГГ (or ГЗ, lol) and his buddy. Characters are well-written and likable. The movie is simultaneously funny and touching. Snippets of AC/DC's Highway To Hell and Back In Black appeared as the soundtrack.
- How do you go from supervillain to superhero? Do everything wrong, then put it back how it was. I can't stop laughing at the overall logic of the plot and the logic of 95% of the characters' actions. The details are great, but the big picture, lol... "Wreck-It Ralph" suffers from similar logic, though he at least saved a princess from a neighboring machine.
= A cool, mocking cartoon with decent characters, sweet and funny. As for the narrative logic—do not try to accept, understand, or repeat it at home; put your brain on a shelf, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show. 9/10.
