I mostly play games where I choose the blue color. It did backfire on me in the CIS, but there it wasn't really important which roads I took. If you play with replacements, then in most cases you can make it to tier 3 on day 1, which is also good.
And I have nothing against replacing one-way roads, I'm all for it.
