The main problem with the bribery situation was that the player who gave up the match didn't really lose anything, because the draw had already eliminated him from the losers' bracket and placed him against a winner, so he simply sold out... if the situation had been with a winner, I don't think this would have happened, but it seems the stars aligned, and a player in need ended up facing a willing buyer. I completely agree with Merlin that such things should be suppressed in every way. My opinion is that such victories are worthless.
