But have you played mirror matches with that time control? If so, were you satisfied with the quality of your game?

Specifically, I haven't played mirror matches, back then the standard was ~66+8+0, but I played a lot of blitz (10+5+0) when it wasn't mainstream yet, and quite successfully. I also played Jeb and XL+U and Mini-Nostu (Diamond didn't exist back then).

So, personally, no time control on any template bothers me. At least because I believe the goal of competitive play is to play better than the opponent, not to play perfectly. And that's what I wish for you too.
