I had things going pretty well — 2 heroes with full control, 4 leveled Necros, stats a bit worse but not critical; 22 Archliches, 3k skeleton, Wyverns, Dread Knights + 3 fully built Necropolis towns. But how do I stop myself from racing ahead out of town in week 5? I exposed my whole army like a fool.
Thanks for the game!
Because I got the Animate Dead scroll in week 2, by week 3 I had already cleared a Utopia and got ALL+6; on one hand I leveraged my temporary stats advantage to immediately invade the opponent's territory and capture his original town, and on the other hand I expanded and built up the economy heavily — the town soon had strategic spells like DD and TP. I thought I had it in the bag, but then I discovered the opponent's army was twice as strong as mine, he could fly and jump and had TP too, and he even grabbed SP2 and other strategic artifacts — at that point I could only fall back and desperately look for a turning point.
What was also frustrating was that my main hero's last skill to develop was Logistics, with only the Gloves, completely unable to match the opponent's Stables + Boots; gradually the space I could operate in grew narrower and narrower, and most of my towns were taken by the opponent — at that point I felt there was no longer any hope of winning.
Just as I was about to surrender, Antiplayer made an irreversible mistake at the critical moment: he actually put his entire army (3000+ skeletons, 22 archangels, 30+ Wyverns) on the weak Kyrre, and exposed it within my vision and attack range.
Antiplayer ran out of time at the start of week 4, and I guess that's the main reason he made such a serious mistake. This was my only chance to win the entire game, and I happened to seize it!
The timer — it requires H3 players to think quickly and act fast, but I feel that many Russian players play very slowly and often get flustered late in the game due to time pressure, which seriously affects their normal level of play!
