That happened. I didn't get the log early enough (it was only given at level 12), so I fell behind in tempo. I got Necropolis and Snow as map edges. I ran around, ran around, and somehow managed to reach level 13. I broke through one portal from the starting area to the main town. On the other side, there were Rogues who cast spells every turn, and I didn't even have time to activate the Oakheart defense. The losses were critical, so I decided not to continue (and the main town was on demonic terrain).

P.S. Fewer lags would be nice. :)
