Okay, I'll try to figure it out, but it seems like there's no real meaning here.

a gray blanket has covered the sky,

This is like Russia, where we have snow for a quarter of the year and clouds for another half.

The sea of the Chinese. They are in the east and are Mongoloid (i.e., of the yellow race). And there are many of them, i.e., a sea of them.

there and there I am drowning and can no longer swim out.

It would be understandable if there was only one "there." But even so, it could mean: like the soul remained in Russia, and the person is in China or vice versa, and there is no way to escape this contradiction.
