On small maps, yes — but on large ones, Necromancy rules. Besides, you yourself won't always be able to afford a lord. And even on small maps, you can level up not just to 2, but to level 10 or 15; for Necromancers, this is generally enough to conquer life and hoard vampires in battles — at least 2 vampires are resurrected per battle. Ultimately, it all depends on the number of neutrals on the map, and there are no decent maps without a heap of neutrals)))

What do you mean I won't be able to afford a lord? I don't mind spending 1500 gold for additional growth.:)
You level up a Necromancer. Soon there are vampires. I level up a general. The vampires will cry when a Crusader with 35\35 stats comes for them:)
