Colonize Mars, build a utopia there for everyone who wants it, pay for tickets to the red planet for those interested, build an economy there, and grow potatoes.

But in general, is it really possible to wrap Mars in wire, run an electric current through it, and create a magnetic field there that is the same as on Earth?
