Town selection: A random pair of towns is generated using a randomizer (if the same pair appears, it is automatically re-rolled). Each player has the right to demand a re-roll once for 500 gold, or to force the opponent to do so. The challenger is the first to declare whether or not they want a re-roll. If, after the re-roll, at least one of the towns is repeated, the player who paid for the re-roll has the right to one free additional re-roll (they announce this immediately after the pair of towns is generated). After the final pair of towns is determined, bidding takes place. The challenger makes the first bid.
An example of bidding looks like this:
The host generates a pair: rand vs rand
Suppose "Conflux - Dungeon" comes up
Challenger declares - I do not require a re-roll.
King of the Hill - I take a re-roll for 500
Suppose "Conflux - Inferno" comes up
King of the Hill may (but is not obligated to) take one free additional re-roll (since Conflux was repeated)
King of the Hill - I take the free re-roll
*If the player who paid for the re-roll does not wish to take a free re-roll when a town is repeated, they announce this immediately after the pair is generated, and only then does the second participant declare whether or not they want a re-roll for 500 gold.
Suppose "Rampart - Dungeon" comes up
Challenger declares - I do not require a re-roll
*The King of the Hill has already used their right to a re-roll. They do not have the right to a free re-roll a second time, provided that one of the towns matches (Dungeon).
