Sometimes, the specific hero performing the turn is of crucial importance. And if that hero is not available, you need to hire him in the tavern. If he is not prohibited on the map, sooner or later you will hire him - 100% guaranteed. The only difficulty is the time spent. The topic of using third-party programs has been discussed many times, and it is not worth focusing on it now. It is your right to do what you think is right. No one will blame you for it...

The only thing that comes to mind is to try to download a different program. There are several versions of it. I have an older version posted; there are probably newer ones available now. Just reinstall it, and that should be it...
Programmers sometimes have this happen - they exit and re-enter, and it starts working! :)
