"only XL-3"

Have you played this map a lot? I haven't, maybe 10 times at most, and 80% of the encounters were on day 13. In comparison, on 8mm6a, 10-20% of the encounters were on day 11, on Spider, almost half, and on the others, encounters were mostly on day 12.
This map, if you don't specifically play to gain control or contact, simply doesn't allow for encounters. That is, you can forget about scouting and just run to the opponent - there's no point in doing that.
