A survey was conducted among the participants of Summer-15 Newbie League regarding how to conduct the group stage in the future; there were two options: on a single map or on 5 templates.
The option with 5 templates won by a large margin. This vote was due to the fact that in the fan games topic, the most popular templates among newbies are Jeb and 8mm6a, and they play other templates less often.
Before the start of the Newbie League, a draft regulation for the league was created, and a survey was conducted regarding controversial points in the rules.
As a result of the survey, the following option was chosen: hold the tournament on the 4 most popular templates from the previous season without computers and 3 most popular templates with computers, provided that only 1 template with computers is used in the group, and the other two will be added in the playoff round).

The regulations for the current Newbie League state:
1. Qualification and group stage matches are played on the following templates: Balance L-U, 2sm4d(3), h3dm1, Jebus Cross, 8mm6a.
Each player has the opportunity to ban 2 maps during the banning phase. And, as can be seen, at the beginning of the group stage, the most popular map in the tournament is 8mm6a.
Having two bans, this map remains in the pool, which leads to the conclusion that it is currently the most interesting map for newbies.
