The problem probably stems more from your side. You yourself said that your computer has been running very slowly lately, and we haven't had this many crashes in our last game with any other player. Perhaps it would be worth reinstalling the OS.

I was playing with you from work... my computer here is dying... and I only had 1 crash, as far as I remember, and you had crashes, right? Not just freezes?!... This happens to me maybe once a year, and sometimes the game just closes without a crash, but that's also very rare... usually at the beginning of a turn.
