When installing HD from scratch, sod.ini (as well as default.ini, hota.ini, wog.ini, era...)
This algorithm will only fail if the launcher does not have write/read permissions for sod.ini.

But I don't have read-only files (I specifically searched - there are only 3 PDF files with that attribute in the game folder), I'm using Windows XP, and I'm running as an administrator. The only unusual thing is that I'm using NTFS, and the executables have been renamed to .Heroes3.exe and .HD_Launcher.exe, and the settings are often reset, for example, in the launcher, the anti-aliasing type and saving all days are always set.
Perhaps I sometimes forget to rename them after an update...

By the way, HD+ is enabled by default for sod; you can verify this by clicking the "Default" button on the Tweaks tab in the Launcher.

That's why I never pay attention to it. It's my fault, but not many people do this every time they launch the game: 1) using the launcher and 2) checking all the boxes in at least one window.
