There is no way to prove that the battle is looped. We do not know the mechanism of how the AI works. Just imagine that it has a principle built in - "after N turns in a loop, we change tactics," or something else... For example, we go to attack not the nearest unit, but the ballista...

In other words, if you have not encountered such a trick through experience, this does not prove that it cannot happen in principle... Therefore, it won't work... Please, simulate the entire battle from start to finish, but do not make the transition from start to finish just "because I am sure..."
