Why can't mana be used then? Or, does using such magic even once render the traditional approach ineffective? Or is there some kind of ritual that must be performed before a mage can use their blood for spellcasting?

Alex, instead of quickly expanding the list of races that can use magic, wouldn't it be easier to remove the race restriction altogether? Perhaps except for your paladins. Also, you're making these changes very discreetly; I personally discovered by chance that dagorians can now use magic. And I discovered the abilities of the liarums shortly before Nebok posted about it. And, by the way, you forgot to mention the ratlings.
