Are Psychology and Religion compatible concepts?

I, for one, believe in gods. And I also believe in psychology. And I don't interfere with anyone's belief or disbelief. But what bothers me is the incorrect quoting. I'm quoting correctly: "The serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden”?’" (Genesis 3:1). And so on. Where is the Devil or Satan here? People like this, who don't read but are sure they know everything, are an object of study for psychologists. This is a classic case of what is called lying.
