The map was generated oddly — the road led to a neutral village and an adjacent zone, where, after losing about 40-50 golems' worth of a unicorn (for a quest ring and a mill), at the end of the first week I spotted the opponent arriving with a bunch of upgraded gnolls and starting troops. At the start of the second week, realizing the opponent was heading toward me, I decided to take a Hive in the swamp (near the lift to the village zone) and rebuy at the capital. The opponent didn't attack, but went off to fatten up. I decided to clear a respawn, took a Griffin Conservatory, a level 2 dwelling, a Naga Bank, and another Hive. I went off-road to a portal, where I found a native computer player, took its Castle, and the dungeon with a growing scout hero and skeletons. It seemed like things were starting to improve somehow — I built a portal and bought Horned Demons (whose external dwelling I had captured at the end of the first week behind the Snipers). But damn, two days later a Dragon bursts into that same Castle, and I'm shocked by such generation. Again, nothing left to do but sit with one Castle. I took a Dragon Utopia, where I found a Torso +4+4 and a КЗ; I searched for anything else in that zone, but there was nothing more — I only revealed the opponent's village. Town Portal to town, I take a second Dragon Utopia — Sphere of Vulnerability + Captain's Hat + Cloak of Magic Resistance, and right on my heels comes a Dragon with a bunch of Wyverns and Archers from the Castle. I run away from him, on the way taking another Hive and a Dragon Utopia — there were Boots of Levitation + a Sword +12 + Angel Wings. Again, nothing else in the zone, I portal to the capital and wait for the assault on the only capital. It doesn't come, so I fly to the swamp of the turquoise computer player, hoping to upgrade Wyverns, which is not meant to happen because the opponent is half a day away from the capital. I portal back.
First final battle:
Me: 5 gold dragons, 8 Dendroid Soldiers, a Pegasus, 25 Horned Demons, 26 Wyverns, 31 Dwarves, 56 Elves.
Stats: 25 19 7 7 (44).
Opponent: 24 19 18 17 (215)
77 Wyverns, 20 upgraded Griffins with 1s, 3 Angels, 19 Gorgons.
Had a Titan's Cuirass, but didn't equip it — instead of +2 speed, I put on the Cloak of Magic Resistance; I had Expert Magic Resistance.
Unfortunately, I didn't have Shackles of War. I won the battle thanks to resistances — thank God they kept appearing on my side, which allowed me to finally cut down 77 Wyverns. By the end of the fight, having used all my mana, an Implosion still wiped out all my Horned Demons and Elves. 3 gold dragons remained. The opponent flees. We saved.
The opponent fattens up again, builds a Necro army, gathers skeletons on all fronts. I try to find something on the map to counter it, take the turquoise swamp, and fly to unexplored areas. I rebuilt the Mage Guild, and the level 14 hero and the main hero got Flight and Town Portal. The level 14 hero has stats over 10, acts as a second front, and runs around the map. The area revealed by View Earth, a treasure zone where Ivor flew in, turns out to be native territory — I take a Dragon dwelling, a Horned Demon dwelling, take a Dragon Utopia, which as luck would have it is a minimum one, but it has a Chalice +6. On the way, I captured the Cloak of Magic Prohibition above level 2; now the opponent's Implosion with 30 spell power isn't scary. I try to find something else in the treasure zone. I only found a Medusa Hair Bowstring, completing the Sniper's Bow.
It was a very unfortunate and fateful loss of the level 14 hero with the Shackles of War — I positioned him so that the next turn I could take the opponent's dungeon, but a Dragon ran out of it and, equipping the Shackles, executed the mother hero with the army.
There was a cockroach race — I saw that the opponent had upgraded Archangels, so I started developing a plan to capture his Castle unnoticed, in order to upgrade my own troops. Through splitting and calculations to stay hidden from the Veil of Darkness, I managed to take the Castle, and with my last gold I upgraded 11 Angels. Naturally, as expected, another "final battle" occurs.
Opponent: 41 33 23 25 Elixir of Life, Red Sphere,
Me: 40 32 18 18 Angel Wings, Cloak of Magic Prohibition.
Troops are on the screenshot.
I manage to win the battle, left with two Archangels.
I planned to reach the opponent who had rebought on the next turn, but I couldn't reach anywhere, so I ran toward his capital with the remnants of my troops, where I was met — with the Shackles — by superior forces mostly from his native Castle.
3 months of hard battles, escapes, and attempts to turn the game around ended so ingloriously in the swamp at the foot of the enemy's capital. And it's a real shame I never got the Shackles of War.
Thank you for the longest game I've ever had!!
