Conan - Howard, Robert Irwin - In the genre of heroic fantasy, Howard wrote more than fifty works, which are grouped into several cycles: these are stories and tales about the king of Valusia, Kull, the barbarian Conan, the leader of the Picts, Bran Mak Morn, and the Puritan - a fighter against evil, Solomon Kane - Solomon Kane was born in 1549 in Devonshire (England), and he was a Protestant (Puritan). In his youth, he was hired on a merchant ship, traveled to India and China. Then he became a privateer, plundering Spanish ships. He fought for the Huguenots (fellow believers) in France.
In 1575, Kane traveled through the Black Forest: he experienced adventures in the "Skull Splitter" tavern (the story "The Stepstones") and in the castle of Baron von Staler (the story "The Castle of the Devil"). During his journey through the Mediterranean Sea, Kane was captured by the Turks and then put on a galley. After returning to England, he was hired for Francis Drake's expedition.
