Although the book's plot is rather dull, all the characters are interesting and unique in their own way.
The plot is simply not based on any specific events but rather on the development of the characters. In other words, as it seemed to me, war and politics are in the background as a "backdrop," while the emphasis is on events from people's personal lives. As a result, it seems like "nothing is happening," but it's still interesting to read.
By the way, while I was reading, Andrei seemed similar to myself in certain moments, although now I can't say how relevant that is anymore, and I don't remember the details.
