For some reason, I remember that the answer to this puzzle is "horn." But it doesn't quite fit, as the pairs are different here. It would be more like a horse-bus and a bull-tram...

Update: And Google claims that the pairs are correct: a horse and a tram are approached from the front, while a bull and a bus are approached from the back.
