I think reviewing the descriptions of the tournament leaders' playthroughs might help resolve the issue. But again, this will be after the final results are tallied.
Or it might just confuse things even more :) We need to approach the results gradually. First, we need to focus on consistently defeating the AI, regardless of the time taken to complete the game. Although, it seems to me that the longer you play within the time limit, the stronger the AI becomes :)

Yes, it counts. You still gain experience in some way. But unfortunately, the result won't be accepted :(
