Started from scratch. Found two good spots for fighting, and spent some time building up there. Early in the week, I found a stash with 50 gems, which helped a lot, including when taking over the fighting spots. I wanted to reach level 122, but without angels, it felt risky to attack the green dragons, so I decided to spend one day farming angels from two consecutive battles. But on level 122, my opponent couldn't handle their own Guardians of Order. Thanks for the game.
