David's deer [1], or the milu [1] (Latin: Elaphurus davidianus) is a rare species of deer, currently known only in captivity, where it slowly reproduces in various zoos around the world and has been introduced into a nature reserve in China. Zoologists believe that this species originally lived in the marshy areas of northeastern China.
