I bet you a hundred bucks that Bill Gates is thinking exactly the same thing. Let's just forget about all the good things from the old games and make more new stuff. And since we can't come up with anything good new, let's add a bunch of bells and whistles so that all the blonde girls will be impressed. Who cares about functionality.
To be honest, I would be happy with Heroes 3 in a modern wrapper. Nothing better will be invented. Not in this series, at least. And we don't need parodies.
If there is no way to find something new and put your soul into your project, then there is no point in even starting it.
