Heroes VII

I have a question. Doesn't anyone find it strange that the artifacts on the map don't look like the ones the hero has? For the hero, they are swords, helmets, rings... but on the map, they are all symbolized by something like a parallelepiped. Isn't that normal? How can you play a map that is 300x300 in size? It will be very difficult to remember the location of the desired artifact.
