The question should be posed on a more global scale.
"What is the point of having investigative roles if they are not allowed to hint at their information in any way?"
1) There's psychology involved. If someone is revealed, they name the information. 2) There are notes. They check and write it in the newspaper. 3) There's the classic scenario. The commissioner checks and the commissioner kills. 4) But in our case, it turns out to be a "role for one person," not "for the town." They check and then sit on their information. And God forbid they even make a statement without providing arguments, "quotes from the accused player's posts that supposedly expose them, or excerpts from the newspaper." Think about it. If the investigator doesn't leave any hints about the night information in their posts, how is it different from a regular town member without a night role? What's the point of the role? Of course, hints can be different, but that's why there's a Game Master who distributes modkills when necessary.
Medj, I played as an investigator who wasn't allowed to talk too much. I know it's difficult, but the investigator role isn't meant for revealing information; it's meant for thoughtful, careful play. Check, find out, and then use your brain to gather legal evidence to expose the Mafia. To me, that's fair. It was especially difficult for me as an investigator in this game; I only revealed my role in the endgame when the GM officially allowed everyone to do so. And, strangely enough, I won there, unexpectedly becoming the Serial Killer.
